Start with your costs

Know your unit cost and the fixed costs the product must help cover. Do not confuse markup with margin; they are different calculations.

Set a target margin

Choose a target gross margin that fits your business model and market. Then test the resulting price against customer willingness to pay.

Use market context

Competitor prices are useful context, not an automatic answer. Your positioning, service level, brand and customer outcome can justify a different price.
